The music, it calls to me...

Most folks here are taking an extremely horrible situation and adding lots of sunshine.

We supported this event with IP communications, power and later on in the evening lighting.

Since there is no power, I lit up the field so the kids to play, many were doing cartwheels and enjoying cool breeze off the water as the sun went down.

Make no mistake supporting this feel good effort is in no way going to prepare for what's in store for Monday... We're heading into the swath of devastation starting next week. Corozal and this effort helps us get the vehicles ready for the next phase. In an upcoming blog I'll discuss a little bit about the challenges with providing broadband internet in areas with now power or communications.

Packing Out Day

I can't believe all of the gear crammed into that little van... 3 pallets... For a moment I felt like I was back on the tarmac of a naval air station getting ready to go someplace impossible... hair actually started to stand up on the back of my neck... Kenny Santos at Aqua-Gulf and his crew packed it all up and put it on VIP cargo bound for Puerto Rico. It should come in the day or two before the van. I'm really glad Erin Hurley from Liberty is organizing all of this... ;)

Generic Access Network or GAN Test

Today after we got Liberty One up and running I wanted to conduct a little test of Generic Access Network or GAN, also called Unlicensed Mobile Access or UMA, and is the commercial name used by mobile carriers for external IP access into their core networks. The latest generation system is named Wi-Fi Calling by a number of handset manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung, a move that is being mirrored by other carriers. This Wi-Fi Calling can be enabled usually in your settings->cellular menu. While in a moving vehicle, Gabby Palerm called Francisco Herrero today while on airplane mode and connected wirelessly to our WiFi hotspot which is then connected to our Satcom setup.
